In February I had the privilege of being a part of the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church Global Ministries Conference. JFBC invited 41 missionaries from around the world for a week of ministry, sharing in small groups, preaching, praying, relaxation and fun. I stayed with a family from JFBC – Linda and John Insognia (see pictures).
Each missionary had a table in the lobby where we had the opportunity to display pictures and other information about our ministries. Throughout the week we spent time with the pastor of JFBC, Bryant Wright and his staff. We had a fun time at WhirlyBall playing in teams against each other. My team won first place!!! We had times to share about our ministries in small groups. I spoke to several Sunday School classes, to the High School ministry two times, and at Linda and John’s home. On Saturday they had a great dinner for us and a very funny Christian comedian kept us laughing for one hour. On Sunday morning I had the chance to speak to the High School group about their upcoming trip to
Matamoros,
Mexico. During the week I had a chance to make contact with several missionary men from Latin-American. One of them was Carlos from
Guatemala. I also visited with my brother Carlos Gonzalez who lives in
Decatur,
Georgia
The director of Global Ministries, Ricky Wheeler, from
John
Ferry
Baptist
Church told us on the first day that this ministry (Global Ministries) started because of a short-term mission trip with Adventures In Mission in
Mexico in 1992. After this trip, JFBC started taking more and more of their people on short term mission trips. Now they take over 1,000 members on short-term mission trips each year. I thank God for giving me the opportunity of being a part of this conference.
